She walked into my office with a carefree attitude and an adorable smile on her face. Her hair reached down to her waistline just like Rapunzel’s, but this girl was no fairytale princess –
she had more tattoos than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson! And that wasn’t even what most fascinated me about her..She was a woman who would not be defined by society’s rules.
She had made her own path and she walked it proudly, with an electrifying aura that left me yearning for more of this amazing girl! She told me about how everyone in school laughed at her the first time they saw her hair. About how boys used to tease her on the street.
But when I asked what happened next, she said “I just ignored them because there is nothing better than having long hair” In our culture, we’re taught from a young age that short hair is acceptable – girls should have their ponytails tied up or pinned back so they don’t take over people’s space..longer-haired girls are quirky and unique
